The 2nd workshop of TIES THAT BIND 2016 kicks off in Singapore TODAY!
Thanks to the partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), the second workshop of TIES THAT BIND 2016 will take place during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum, where the selected TTB projects will be presented together with 10 other selected projects from Southeast Asia to leading decision makers from Asia and Europe.

Furthermore, the call for applications for the ninth edition of TIES THAT BIND – Asia / Europe Co-Production Workshop in 2017 is now open until February 16, 2017.
Among the successful films developed at TIES THAT BIND are A YELLOW BIRD by K. Rajagopal (Semaine de la Critique Cannes 2016), DOG DAYS by Jordan Schiele (Panorama section of the Berlinale 2016), INTERCHANGE by Dain Iskandar Said (Piazza Grande of Festival del Film Locarno 2016), BIG FATHER, SMALL FATHER AND OTHER STORIES by Di Phan Dang (Berlinale competition 2015), CHI - MR. ZHANG BELIEVES by Jiongjiong Qiu (Signs of Live section of the Festival del Film Locarno 2015), BLACK STONE by Roh Gyeong-Tae (Section Spectrum Premiere Rotterdam 2015), and FLAPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE by Hoang Diep Nguyen (won Best Film at Venice Critics’ Week 2014).
TIES THAT BIND is the leading training programme for European-Asian co-production. It is targeted at European & Asian producers, 10 of which will be selected with a feature film in development for the workshop. We also welcome applications of other European professionals interested in working with Asia (sales agents, financiers, distributors, festival programmers, co-production market representatives) or European producers without project. 5 of them will be selected to be an active part of the group.
The 15 participants attend 2 workshops: Workshop 1 will take place from April 25 – 29, 2017 within the framework of the Udine Far East Film Festival (April 21 – 29, 2017) in Italy. Workshop 2 will be organised in early December 2017 in Singapore during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum in partnership with the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA).
The participants work with top-notch industry professionals from both continents during the two workshops. Amongst a range of issues, sessions will focus on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, marketing and distribution, and the legal aspects of co-production. They will also meet leading Asian and European sales agents, funders and potential co-producers during the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum.

During the second TTB workshop in Singapore (December 5 – 9, 2016) the participants will continue to develop and package their projects under the guidance of the TTB pedagogical team including TTB Head of Studies Christophe Bruncher (Ici et Là Productions, FR), Clare Downs (Script Consultant, UK), Shanty Harmayn (Salto Films, Indonesia), Elise Jalladeau (Thessaloniki IFF, GR). Special focus during this session will be put on examining distribution networks across both Europe and Asia in a session by Guillaume De Seille (Arizona Productions, FR). Nicolas Brigaud-Robert (Films Distribution, FR) will elaborate on the international market for independent films. Fran Borgia (Akanga Films Asia, SG) and Claire Lajoumard (Acrobates Films, FR) will gave insight into a co-production of A YELLOW BIRD by K. Rajagopal, which premiered this year at Semaine de la Critique Cannes.
